Hotel Description
The Savoy is one of Britain´s enduring landmarks, perfectly situated for all London has to offer. Just beyond our doorstep you´ll find the theatres, opera, ballet and shops of the West End and Covent Garden. The City of London is only a short walk away. Our famous riverside front overlooks a classic sweep of the Thames, which has been famously captured by Claude Monet. Our hotel has always been a favourite place for London society. Whether meeting in the Thames Foyer or American Bar, or dining in the famous Grill, The River Restaurant or 'Upstairs', the Savoy is the right place to be. During the 1990s, The Savoy has been extensively restored. New rooms and facilities have been added, and advanced systems and technology installed. We offer large conference and banqueting facilities, as well as an extensive range of private dining and meeting rooms. Through the Fitness Gallery we provide our guests with the latest health facilities, beauty treatments and swimming pool.

  • The American Bar first opened in the late 1890´s and ever since has been a stylish meeting place for hotel guests and Londoners alike. In the 1920´s, The Savoy employed Harry Craddock, an American barman who played an important role in the 20´s London cocktail scene. To accompany such famous creations as "The Dry Martini Cocktail", The American Bar offers a selection of sandwiches and light dishes throughout lunch. Craddock introduced the practice of inventing new cocktails for occasions and events of national importance, a tradition which is still maintained to this day. He created such cocktails as "Princess Mary´s Pride", which was introduced on the occasion of her marriage in 1922, and "The Strike´s Off" which he invented to mark the end of the general strike in 1926.
